We’re in a meeting overload era. More hybrid. More remote. More tools. But somehow, less connection. Less trust. At Relate, we believe that meetings should be more than just transactional, they should be opportunities to build real relationships. That’s why we built Relate.
Over 93% of business leaders say building trust is critical to success—but only 30% of their customers agree that they’re actually trusted. That gap? It’s a trillion-dollar problem. (Source: PwC’s 2024 Trust Survey)
Executives, team leads, and client-facing professionals are facing a new communication challenge: the tools we use are optimized for efficiency, not effectiveness. They help us schedule, summarize, and follow up, but they don’t tell us how well we actually built trust and relationships in meetings.
Meeting tools that transcribe conversations and generate action items have become table stakes, they’re expected, not exceptional. Relate goes further. While we offer those baseline features, our real value lies in surfacing insights and tracking the behaviors that build or erode trust. Relate is more than a meeting tool; it’s a meeting intelligence platform designed to help individuals, teams, and leaders become more trustworthy, more self-aware, and more effective with every interaction.
The idea for Relate started over a decade ago. Co-founder Rowly Hirst was helping investor relations teams prepare for high-stakes meetings. One pattern kept surfacing: the companies that consistently outperformed had one thing in common, they communicated better. In fact, research from Watson Wyatt showed that companies with effective communication strategies outperformed their peers by up to 47%.
But the feedback loop was broken. Managers didn’t know how they were being perceived in meetings. Trust (arguably the most important soft skill in business) wasn’t being measured.
Then came the breakthrough: exposure to the work of Sandy Pentland at MIT, one of the top computational social scientists in the world. It became clear that human behavior can be measured and improved. That was the spark that became Relate.
Most meeting tools measure what was said. Relate measures how it was said.
Relate doesn’t just help you run better meetings. It helps you become better in meetings. We do that by measuring what matters: the behaviors that build trust credibility, reliability, intimacy, and self-orientation, based on the widely used Trusted Advisor Equation. And we deliver that insight after every meeting, not in six-month retros or lagging surveys.
Relate’s AI coach, Sandi, delivers real-time feedback and coaching on these behaviors after every meeting. That means users can:
Instead of waiting for quarterly reviews or vague feedback, you get micro-feedback at the moment it matters.
Advances in generative AI now allow us to deliver relationship insights at the same speed and objectivity as financial KPIs. Just as dashboards track your sales or stock price, Relate now tracks your ability to build relationships.
This is the beginning of a shift. Trust is becoming measurable. And when it becomes measurable, it becomes manageable.
Whether it’s manager-to-employee, product expert-to-customer, or CEO-to-investor, the most impactful business interactions all share one thing: strong relationships built on trust.
Relate is here to help you build them, one meeting at a time.
